Day 3-August 3, 2011

Have a meeting with the counselor at SAS(Singapore American School).  Ernie decided that he would try driving to the school.  We looked at the map and looked at the map.  Just remember, stay on the left but hug the line on the right.  Before we knew it we were on the PIE(Pan Island Expressway) and the BKE(Bukit Timah Expressway) headed north to the Woodlands.  We exited Woodlands Ave. 3, I think.  The main roads are the same just numbered.  Hard to remember where you are.

Ernie had been here earlier, so he knew where he was going.  Driving into a guarded gate for school  was a little intimidating to say the least.  They let us in and we headed for the parking garage at the end.  It wasn't hard to find the counselors as the place was well marked.  As we were early,  some classmates of Elliott's took us for a walk around the campus.  We saw, the three story library, the cafeteria which was multi storied.  As we were walking to the auditorium theater area, we passed by the middle school science classrooms.  Was that a sign?  Who knows.    Met with the counselor and set up Elliott's schedule.  BLOCK SCHEDULING !!!!  7 classes with a built in free period to study.  They rotate A,B, C, and D days.  The C and D days are reversals of A and B so kids don't have those periods first every time.  How unique.  And this counselor- he is also a licensed psychologist!!  How unique-a counselor that has time to counsel.  If you look on Facebook you'll see pictures that I've posted of the school.  If I learn how, I'll post some here.  Maybe I'll get a chance to take a picture of the PTA office.  It is impressive.  It's nearly as big as the Main Office Building !!

Drove around the Woodlands and actually got to drive up the hill to our new home.  As we drove by, I noticed an old sofa and love seat in it.  I sure hope they take it out before we end up with another "old" couch.  The previous renters are already out and I think workers are working at touching it up for now.

Drove to the mall not far from the house.  It is in major reconstruction.  But we found some American like food to eat.  Baked Chicken and Rice.  YUM!!!!  After lunch, we walked around and found something that we needed.  Phones.  We also have a work order to install tv and internet in the house in September.  But TV is really bad here.  There is absolutely nothing to watch.
I ended up with an iPhone (white) and Ernie got a plain-o something or other. Elliott won't get his until his Dependent Pass comes in next week.  He's supposed to be able to get a really good deal as a student.  So he'll just have to carry around Ernie's.

Back on the road again.  Only maded one wrong turn but we did have some difficulties getting back since it's all left side driving.  Made it home safely with no collisions.

Elliott went out to meet with, Olivia, a girl from Clear Lake.  They met at the American Club.  Don't worry, we won't be joining.  It costs way too much.  I can't believe that we let our child out alone in a foreign country.  Oh well, he had a good time and he needed to be with kids his own age.

Hooked up the Vonage Phone around 8 to try and call Daddy.  He was excited to hear from us. Guess we'll try and hook it up every other day to  call him.

Elliott came in about 9:30 and we were all off to sleep.
